DOWNEY, Raymond

Relatives in the Montgomery County area have been notified of the death of Raymond F. Downey, 59, of Rt. 1, Ambia. Mr. Downey died suddenly at noon Thursday in Crown Point after suffering a heart attack. He and his wife had been residing in Crown Point where Mrs. Downey is a teacher. He had been a farmer most of his life in the Ambia area. Born June 2, 1907, in Warren County, he was the son of Thomas H. and Amanda Waltz Downey. He married Louise Stoup at Williamsport Dec. 22, 1949. Mr. Downey was a veteran of World War II. He was a past commander of the Warren American Legion Post 259 in Williamsport. He was also a past master of the Hedrick Masonic Lodge, a member of the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite and the Jordan Chapter of Eastern Star 242 in Hedrick. He also was a member of the Tab Christian Church. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Karen Christine, at home; the mother, Mrs. Amanda Downey of Cramer, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Cornelia Wright of Benton Harbor, Mich., and a niece. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tab Christian Church with Rev. John Heflin officiating. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour preceding the services. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery at Boswell, Ind. Friends may call at the Crowmer-Siddens Funeral Home in Williamsport after 2 p.m. Saturday. – jlr
