Crawfordsville, Ind – Jessie Dowell, 40 of Shannondale, Ind died Wednesday at 5:15 a.m. at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville after an illness. Born June 16, 1946, in Crawfordsville he was the son of Mary Blankenship Dowell of Waynesburg and the late Henry Dowell. He attended Crab Orchard schools and was employed by Midstates Steel & Wire in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Eagles Fraternal organization, American Legion and VFW. He was a US Army veteran of Vietnam War. Additional survivors include his wife, Brenda Fergerson Dowell; a daughter, Julie Dowell at home; a son, Jessie Dowell Jr. at home; four brothers, Bobby Dowell of Eubank, Elmer and Elvie Dowell, both of Waynesburg and Verne Dowell of Crawfordsville, Ind.; five sisters, Barbara Harris, Dorothy Morhinner, Elsie Carter and Margaret Kidd all of Waynesburg and Christina Roberts of Thorntown, Ind. The funeral will be at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville at 2 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Dick Baker. Burial will be in Shannondale Cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. - kbz
