DOWDEN, Stella Morris Jones - Montgomery InGenWeb Project

BLOOMINGDALE – Mrs. Stella Belle Dowden, 75, Rt. 1, died at her residence at 6 p.m. Thursday. She had been in failing health for the past three years. Mrs. Dowden was born March 18, 1895 in Douglas County, Missouri, to Clarence and Mary Etta Eaton Morris. She married John A. Jones on July 29, 1911. He died Dec. 12, 1949. She married Walter Dowden on Nov. 13, 1961. He died April 3, 1968. Mrs. Dowden owned and operated the Jones Grocery in Annapolis for 18 years, retiring in 1966. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Arthur Jones of Dyer; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Edith) McClintock of Decatur, Ill. and Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Chamness of Bloormingdale; a brother, Alfred Roy of Brazil; a sister, Mrs. Orcella Spencer of Danville, Ill.; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchidren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tudor Funeral Home at Rockville, Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
