Last Monday at 5 o’clock after an illness of about two weeks from tuberculosis of the bowels, Mrs. Elinore Douglas, wife of Rev. J. M. Douglas, died at her home in Toledo, O. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon at Toledo and interment was in the same city.
Elinore Barnhart was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Barnhart, of this city, and was born in Darlington Oct. 9, 1866. She came to this city with her parents when a child and lived here until December 9, 1894, when she was married to Rev. J. M. Douglas, and they then went to Montana, where Mr. Douglas held a pastorate in the Presbyterian Church for three years. They then moved to Toledo, O., where Mr. Douglas has been engaged in pastoral work. To them were born two children, both girls, one six and the other two years old. Mrs. Douglas, during her life in this city, was an active worker in Center Presbyterian Church, being a member of the choir at one time, and an earnest worker in the young people’s society.
Her beautiful Christian life left its impress upon all those who came in contact with her, and by her death a very useful servant has been called home to rest.
Mrs. Douglas had many warm personal friends in this city who sympathize deeply with the bereaved husband and children in their irreparable loss. Mrs. Barnhart was at the bedside of her daughter when death came and Mr. Barnhart left for Toledo Tuesday to attend the funeral. -s
