John R. Douglas, 88, of Rt. 4, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in Winona Hospital at Indianapolis. He lived in the Crawfordsville area all his life. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church. Born Feb. 2, 1887, in Montgomery County, he was a son of Louis and Lavina Douglas. On Nov. 2, 1910, he was married to Daisy Pointer. She preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 1974. Survivors are four sons, Manforde of South Bend, Louis Jack of Crawfordsville, Hobart Leon of Clearwater, Fla., and David Allen of Chicago Heights, Ill.; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bryant of Crawfordsville, Laura Douglas of New Castle, Ellen Fruits of Kansas City, Kan., Maxine Krout of Crawfordsville and Mary Brady of Crawfordsville; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edgar. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Baker officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
