New Market - Donald D. Douglas, 67, who had been a teacher for 40 years, died of a heart attack at his home at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. He had retired from teaching last spring. A graduate of New Market HS and Purdue University with a master's degree from the University of Illinois he taught 10 yeaers at Waveland, 27 years at New Market and 3 at Philo, Ill. He was born April 25, 1898 at New Market to aaron and Lida Smith Douglas. He was married to Ida Isaacs Nov 3, 1933 in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Christian Church where he had served as an elder and teacher many eyars. He also belonged to the masonic Lodge and OES at Waveland and Scottish Rite at Indianapolis. He was past patron of the OES. Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard of Las Vegas a sister, Mrs. Addie Smith of New Market and a brother, Robert of New Market. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market, Rev. Gene Sandefur will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Greenacstle. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
