Relatives here were in receipt of word Monday of the death in Los Angeles, Cal of Miss Fern Doubleday, former resident of Crawfordsville. Miss Doubleday died rather suddenly at her home Tuesday, Aug 2. Daughter of the late Mrs. Dora Montgomery Doubleday, Miss Doubleday was educated in the Crawfordsville schools and resided here until their removal to California about 25 years ago. Miss Doubleday was graduated from the Crawfordsville HS with the class of 1904. She also studied music and dramatic art following her graduation. Miss Doubleday is survived by her sister, Mrs. D.C. Rounds, the former Miss Else Doubleday now living at 2014 Kenmore Avenue in Los Angeles. Miss Doubleday was prominent in the work of the Church of Christ Scientists, in California. Mrs. Charles F. VanDyke, 409 S Washington Street and Isaac Montgomery of Linden, are first cousins of Miss Doubleday while Dr. J J Osborne of the Wabash College faculty and Mrs. Harley T. Ristine, 208 Marshall Street are also cousins. Funeral services and burial took place in California, Miss Doubleday's mother died in Los Angeles several years ago.
