Dr. and Mrs. Edgar C. VanDerVolgen, 417 W .Main Street were in receipt of a telegram Monday afternoon from Mrs. Elsie Doubleday Rounds of Hollywood, Cal informing them of the death of the latter's mother, Mrs.Dora M. Doubleday. Mrs. Doubleday died at 8 o'clock Sunday night at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Doubleday resided in Crawfordsville at 501 W. Main Street next door to Dr. and Mrs. VanDerVolgen for many years. She moved to California about 15 years ago to make her home with her daughter. Mrs. Doubleday was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Montgomery, pioneers of Montgomery County, who lived on their farm west of Linden. She was the last surviving of Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery's 8 children. During most of their residence in Crawfordsville, Mrs. Samantha Hollowell, one of her five sisters made her home with Mrs. Doubleday. Other sisters were Mrs. Addie Insley of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Eva Boyd, Mrs.Sarah Durham and Mrs. Mayme Anderson all of whom resident in Kansas or states nearby. Two brothers were William and Walter Montgomery who were prominent farmers in the north part of Montgomery County. Mrs. Doubleday's husband was Leander Doubleday, a well known banker in Kansas City where they resided after their marriage. She came to Crawfordsville to reside in 1887. Mrs. Doubleday was a member of the Church of Christ, Scientists in Hollywood. In addition to the daughter at whose home she died another sister, Miss Fern Doubleday, also of Hollywood survives.
