HILLSBORO — Virginia Rose “Babe" (Ferguson) Dotson, 74, 205 Thompson St., Hillsboro, died at 7:03 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 in St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville, following an illness of three months. She was born May 8, 1926 in Somerset, Ky., the daughter of William and Goldie Ferguson. She married Ellis E. Dotson Nov. 12, 1949 in Richmond, Ky. He survives. She was raised in Somerset, graduating from Somerset High School in 1944. She worked as a secretary at the Blue Grass Ordinance Depot, Richmond, Ky. After moving to Antioch, Ill., she worked as a secretary for the Antioch Elementary School until moving to Hillsboro in 1977. She was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodish Church, the United Methodist. Women and the Crawfordsville Lady Elks. She was a former member of the Antioch High School Band Boosters and while living in Antioch was an avid bowler. Survivors, besides the husband, include: two sons, Stephen (Jewell) Dotson, Lake Holiday and William (Davina) Dotson, Hillsboro; a sister, Helen (Albert) Abreu, Lake Holiday; a brother, William G. (Myrna) Ferguson, Antioch, Ill.; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two great nieces; a great nephew and a great great nephew. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Hillsboro United Methodist Church, the Rev. Rob Rixman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. – jlr
