A number of the relatives of Mrs. Roy Dodd, a former resident of this vicinity whose death occurred in Crawfordsville Sunday, went to that city this morning to attend the funeral. Among those going were: Mrs. Elizabeth Smiley; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen; DC Allen; Miss Mildred allen; Miss Lucile Allen; Mrs. Lou Baker; Marion Farrow; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Jones; Mrs. Fred Bryan; Clay McKee; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Allen and Joe M. Allen. Regarding Mrs. Dodd’s death the Crawfordsville Journal says: “Mrs. Nell Olive Dodd, wife of Roy Dodd died at her mother’s home on west Main Street Sunday evening at 6:30 after an extended illness, cancer of the stomach being her affliction. Her husband, who is a traveling salesman for a furniture company was out of town when the death of his wife occurred. Although her illness has extended through a long period and was considered serious her death was sudden and unexpected and Mr. Dodd could not be notified in time to reach her bedside. Efforts were made last night to reach him by wire but relatives were unable to ascertain what city he was in. He will probably arrive here some time today. “With plans for an operation, Mrs. Dodd was taken to Culver Union Hospital some time ago but it was found that her disease had advanced to such a point that the operation could not be performed. At that time her condition seemed to grown a little better but she soon began to grow weaker. The death is made sadder by the fact that three little children are left motherless. Mrs. Dodd is also survived by her mother, Mrs. FB Gardner at whose home she has been for the past few weeks. The deceased was born in Putnam County August 11, 1884 and was in her 29th year when her death occurred.”
