ALTHA PUTNAM DILLMAN

Source: Waveland Independent, Nov 18, 1927

On Nov. 9th 1927, the silent repear entered Mr. Dillman's home and gathered the spirit of the wife and mother, to dwell in the land of the eternal sunlight. While the bereaved ones were in anguish over the parting they caught the import of the blessed Master when he said, "I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth on me shall never die." Altha Dillman daughter of Henry and Mary F. Putnam was born in Fayette County near Glenwood, Ind; May 15, 1873 and passed from this life to the great beyond at her home in Waveland at the age of 54Y5M24D. To this union three children were born, Garrie, Maxwell and Mabel. they with her husband are left to mourn their loss of a kind and affectionate mother and a true and noble wife. She also leaves one sister, Lola Runyon of Glenwood, and two brothers, Avery Putnam of Indianapolis and Emery Putnam of Muncie; also 5 grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. Her parents preceded her in death, the aged mother less than 3 months ago. Mrs. Dillman was one of those self sacrificing mothers, whose highest ambition was to toil for the happiness of her children. In her passing, the family suffers a loss which never can be replaced and the community a splendid and highly respected citizen. For the past few years Mrs. Dillman has not been well but she did what her hands found to do as long as her strength permitted. The friends and neighbors who came so often to see her were always gladly welcomed by the strong grasp of her hand. She united with the Meth. Church in Glenwood at the age of 14 always attending preaching services and Sun. School. In the year 1895 she placed her letter in the Christian Church at Waveland of which her husband later became a member. (poem in orig. obit not included here) - kbz
