The funeral of Elmer C. Dietrich was held at the Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon, Rev. F.J. Beisel delivering the funeral sermon, and the singing was by the men's quartet. The Masonic Lodge under the direction of the Master Lee Foster gave their funeral ceremony, Emerson E. Ballard of Crawfordsville delivering the oration. The pall bearers were all past masters of the lodge; J.O. Rosebaum; Thomas Garland; Clarence Milligan; O.l. Reddish; O.E. Everson and Elmer Crooks. The flower bearers were Jesse McMains; David McClain; John Shanks and Fred Priebe. Owing to the state of the roads it was necessary to take the casket to the Cemetery on a truck. The following Biography was read: "Elmer Clinton Dietrich, fifith child of John L. and Rebecca C. Dietrich was born in Waveland, Oct 27, 1866; departed this life, Feb 3, 1927; aged 60 Y 3M #3D. He was united in marriag eto Anna K. Hendrickson April 22, 1885. To them were born five children, three sons, Chester S who preceded his father in death at the age of 6 years; Carson W. of Chicago, Ill; John L of Roanoke College, Salem, Va; and two daughters, Mrs. Bazel d. Fulwider and Louise V. Greve, all of Anderson. He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in early manhood. Elmer Dietrich was of unusually sunny disposition and great patience, even during his prolonged affliction. In earlier manhood he was of the sturdiest type of physique, having been a blacksmith for 26 years. He will be missed by all in his home community. He had been for many years very active in both the Masons and Odd Fellow Fraternities having served as Master in the former and Noble Grand of the latter. His health faile dhim about 12 years ago, since which time he has been in gradual decline up to his late illness. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, who was his devoted and untiring companion throughout his affliction, his two daughters, two sons, four grandchildren and many friends and relatives." Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Gardner, J.O. Rosebaum and Mrs. Olive Lough of Indianapolis; Misses Eunice and Ruby Sharpe, Mrs. Frank Bollman of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Charles Rush and son of New Market, Mrs. F.A. Stebbins of Hillsboro, Joe Loudermill of Lawrencevill, Ill and Miss Vivian Martin of Monticello, Indiana. - kbz
