Vures T. Dickerson, 59, died suddenly Thursday morning at his home on Rt. 6, Crawfordsville, five miles north on U. S. 231. He was born May 5, 1901, in Barrien County, Ky., near Tompkinsville, the son of Isaac and Ida Turner Dickerson. He was first married to Vivian Petyon and following her death he was married to Gladys Francis Oct. 14, 1931, in Danville, Ky. When he was young his family moved to Monroe County, Ky., and he attended schools there until moving to Montgomery County. He had been an electrician in Crawfordsville and had lived in Crawfordsville and Mace communities. He worked for R. R. Donnelley & Sons for 13 years and during World War II did electrical work for the government. He had lived at his present home for 15 years. He was a member of Youngs Chapel Christian Church, a deacon and a member of the board of trustees. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Montezuma; a daughter, Mrs. Margurie Lloyd of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, Paul of Rt. 2 and Wallace of Crawfordsville; three sisters, Mrs. Tessie Hodge of Hudson, Ill., Mrs. Troas Combs of Owensboro, Ky., and Mrs. Ruth Spradlin of Rt. 2; five grandchildren; an uncle; three aunts, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mae. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bright Funeral Home here with Rev. Marvin Schramm, pastor of Young’s Chapel Church, in charge. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery at Darlington. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home here.
