Newtown - Kenneth E. Dickerson, 74, of Newtown died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in Culver Union Hospital.  He had been in failing health for several years.  He was raised in Boone County and had been a resident of newtown since 1945.  He had taught school for 34 years, teaching business at Richland Township and Coal Creek schools. He finished his teaching career at North Montgomery High School in 1979.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. He was also a member of the Newtown Chapter 182 Order of Eastern Star where he was a past worthy patron; Richland Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons, where he was a past master; Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute; Quigle-Palin American Legion Post of Newtown; Indiana Retired Teachers Association; Fountain-Warren Counties of Retired Teachers Association; Montgomery Couny Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Fountain County Historical Society.  He was a 1938 graduate of Perry Central HS and received his bachelor of science degree from Central Normal College in Danville, Ind. He went on to receive his master's degree from Purdue University.

He was born July 25, 1920 near Lebanon to Henry Edmund and Effie Sophia Poland Dickerson.  He married Alberta L. Thomas May 2, 1942 in Hillsboro. She survives.  Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Marcia Ann) Ramsey of Kansas city, Mo and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Curtis Wayne Dickerson.

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Maus Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. James Campbell and Lynn Denison officiating. Burial with military gravesite services wll take place in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8:30 pm. Thursday.  Masonic memorial services will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Quigle-Palin American Legion Post.
