James A. Dodds, 62, Crawfordsville, died 12:55 p.m. Monday in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr. Dodds was a painter, working for Dodds Painting Co. 47 years. His memberships included St. Bernard's Catholic Church and Painters Union Local 80, Lafayette. He attended Montezuma schools.
He was born Jan. 14, 1941, at Parke County, to Bert and Doris Zachary Dodds. He married Karol Jones on Aug. 20, 1960, at Parke County. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Lake Holiday; a daughter, Sheila Swenke, Brownsburg; a son, Dan, the Netherlands; four brothers, Donald L., Paducah, Ky., Bert Z. and Billy Joe, both of Martinsville, and Frank W., Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
His father is deceased.
Funeral Mass is scheduled 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 1306 E. Main St., Crawfordsville, with Father Melvin Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market. Friends may call 5-6 p.m. Thursday in Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. The family will receive friends after 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Holiday Inn, U.S. 231N, Crawfordsville.
