John Dewey, an old and respected citizen of Coal Creek Township, died at 10 o'clock, Tuesday night at his home in New RIchmond. He was born on White River October 6, 1822 and came to this county at an early period. In 1846 he married Sarah Gannor who died a year following, leaving a son, James. In 1851 Mr. Dewey took unto himself a second wife in the person of Catharine Gannor, sister of his first wife. To them were born six children: William, Frank, Joseph, Scott, Howard and Mrs. Charles Zook. The deceased was a life long membe rof the Christian Church and a man of prominence in the good works of his community. The funeral was conducted at the Christian Church at New Richmond at 11 a.m. Thursday. - kbz

John Dewey, a well known citizen of Coal Creek Township, died Tuesday night at ten o’clock. The funeral occurred on Thursday at the New Richmond Christian Church, of which he had long been a member.
Mr. Dewey was born in this state on October 6, 1822. In 1848 he was married to Sarah Gammon, who died after one son, James, had been born. In 1851 Mr. Dewey was married to Miss Catharine Gammon, a sister of his first wife, and to them six children was born, William, Frank, Joseph, Scott, Howard and Mrs. Charles Zook. - s
