Mrs. Mabel Kelsey DeVore died Friday afternoon in Wesley Manor at Frankfort where she had been a patient since March 1967. She lived here at 403 E. Wabash Ave and was the widow of Lawrence E. DeVore president of the First National Bank & Trust. Mrs. DeVore was a daughter of John P. and Ada Drake Kelsey and was born Dec 16 1889 at Linden. She attended schools there and in Crawfordsville and was a 1907 graduate of CHS. After attending Northwestern University a year she was graduated with high honors from Vassar in 1911. Prio rto her June 26, 1912 marriage to Mr. DeVore she taught school at Linden. Mrs. DeVore was a member and active in the First United Methodist Church and its WSCS and of the Current Events Club, Group B, Needleworkers of the Art League Athenian, Della Kappa Gamma sorority, the DAR, Indiana Vassar Club & Republic Women's Club and also active in the Red Cross, Girl Scouts and Flower Lovers. Her ony survivors are two cousins, Mrs. Margaret Jacques Rowe of Scarsdale, NY and Neal Botts of Renssalaer. An infant daughter, a son, Dvid and another daughter, Margaret preceded their mother in death. A devoted friends of many years, Mrs. Morris L. (Ethel) Young was with Mrs. DeVore when she died. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Bright-Burkhart Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Little and Ralph Graham, the latter of Greencastle, officiating. Interment in Oak HIll Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Wesley Manor Health Center.
