John “Carl” DEMAREE, 67, a well known photographer, died Saturday midnight at his home, 213 W. Pike St, Crawfordsville from a heart ailment. He had been in failing health a month. A former barber, he was born at the Homer Robison place on March 20, 1886, the son of Davis G. and Mary GALEY Demaree. He married Edith LUCAS, the daughter of a Waveland merchant, Sept 26, 1907 who survives. He was also a graduate of the Waveland HS but had lived in Crawfordsville since 1922. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge. Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce BEHMER of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Frank ROBERTSON of San Jose, California; one brother, JM Demaree of W. Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Paul Jones of Ames, Iowa and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Donald McMahan.
