Mrs. Edith L. Demaree, 82, Montgomery County native and longtime resident of Crawfordsville died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Manor Health Center in Frankfort. She had been ill for more than a year, she moved from Crawfordsville to the manor in November 1961. Mrs. Demaree was the wife of the late Carl Demaree who was a photographer in Crawfordsville many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Born Feb 6, 1889, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of George W. and Nancy E. Lucas. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Behmer of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Carl Busenbark of Indianapolis; a brother, Paul Lucas of Rockville, Ill; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the AManda Reid Chapel of the Westley Manor Center in Frankfort. The body will lie in state one hour preceding the ceremonies. Rev. Carlile Mason will officiate. Burial in the Crawfordsville Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at he Hartman & Fry Funeral Home in Frankfort between 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday.
