Source: Waveland Independent, July 23, 1936

Our former citizen, David G. Demaree, who lived for many years on the farm now owned by Homer Robison died at the Mary Greeley Hospital IN Ames, Iowa on Monday morning. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble and was taken to the hospital, July 9. The intense heat was probably a contributory cause. Mrs. Paul Jones, his daughter with whom he was living in Ames sends this sketch of his life: David Griffith Demaree was born March 24, 1855 in Parke County where Raymond Greve lives. His father and mother were John and Huldah Demaree. He married Mary GALEY June 28, 1885 (sic -- 1880? Bk 9). Mrs. Damaree died in 1922. Six children were born to this union: Mrs. Grace Dronberger, Terre Haute; Mrs. Mae D. Himmelbauer, Oakland City; Frank H. Demaree of Lafayette; J. Carl Demaree of Crawfordsville; Mrs. W. Paul Jones, Ames, Iowa; 5 grandsons, 5 granddaughters and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Utterback & Murphey Funeral Home in Crawfordsville yesterday afternoon in charge of Rev. BE Antrobus with burial in Indian Creek.
