CHARLES SUMNER DEMAREE

Source: Waveland Independent, April 1, 1927

Charles L. Demaree, a former resident of Waveland, was found dead in his bed on Sunday morning. He has been a sufferer from heart trouble for many years. Funeral services were held at the home in Crawfordsville on Tues. afternoon in charge of Rev. W.W. Roberts. Burial here in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Demaree was the son of John and Hulda Demaree and was born on what is known as the Coon Demaree place near Byron in 1857. He married Sophoemia Campbell of Carrolton, Ky in 1884. She died many years ago. Their daughter, Emily still living, made her home with her father. He was a brother of David Demaree of Crawfordsville, and the late Howard Demaree. For many years he lived on a farm W. of Waveland and for some time in Waveland before removing to Crawfordsville about 7 years ago. Mr. Demaree was a member of Rathbone Lodge #232. He was of a quiet and courteous disposition and had many friends in this vicinity who will regret to hear of his death, which was not unexpected as his health has been very precarious, although seemingly improved of late years.
