Shirl B. Dellinger, 78, of Rt. 4, a lifelong farmer in the Crawfordsville area, died Wednesday afternoon in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday. He attended school in Elwood and was a member of the Christian Church in Arcadia, He was a member of the Montgomery Farm Bureau. He was born Nov. 4, 1892, a son of Peter and Charlotte Hartley Dellinger. He was first married Sept. 24, 1913, to Rebecca H. Baynes at Salem. She died in 1957. On June 7, 1960 he was married to Doris Shanklin in Marion. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, Hartley of Tonawanda, N. Y., Robert of Crawfordsville, Dr. Thomas B. of Dallas and George of Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. John H. Van Horn, Racine, Wis., Mrs. Nathan Aram, Barrington, Ill., and Mrs. Thomas L. Powell, Weatherford, Tex., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Robert and Joseph Shanklin of Indianapolis and Larry Shanklin at home, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Paul Wilson of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene. Services will be conducated at Bright & Burkhart Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Gerold Dooley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
