Martha W. Paxton DEITRICK
Source; Unknown
Mrs. Martha W. Deitrick died Nov. 20, 1887, at the residence of her son-in-law, George W. Hutton, 6 miles North of Crawfordsville, Indiana in the 75th year of her life. Born in Virginia, she married Michael M. Deitrick in 1833. They were the parents of 7 children, 5 girls and 2 sons of which but 2 are living now. Her husband died in Kentucky, and left her with 6 small children to care for, and well did she fulfill her duty. Shortly after her husband died she with her children moved to Montgomery County, in the same neighborhood where she died. Sister Martha has been a sufferer for about 4 months, much of the time her suffering was severe but with Christian patience and fortitude did she bear it without a murmur of complaint. In early life she gave her life and service to our Saviour, always ready and willing to bear her share of responsibilities of the Church of her choice. Sister Deitrick was a kind loving mother, a faithful Christian and kind neighbor. For a long time she has made her home with a son-in-law, George Hutton where she died, but she is gone and we humbly bow to the will of him who giveth all things well and we quietly submit believing our loss is her gain. Her funeral took place at Young's Chapel Nov. 22, 1887, services by Elder ? Ridge of Ladoga.
