The life of the bright little son of Pastor J.H. Deere and wife passed into eternity yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Only two summers did this little one brighten the home, when the Heavenly Father transferred him to bloom in the heavenly garden. Because of the awful ravages of diptheria there was but a prayer at the house and a prayer at the grave and the little form was lowered by tender hands and sorrowful hearts. The tender sympathy and love of many hearts go out towards the Pastor and wife in this sudden and deep bereavement, but we commit them unto the "Tender shephard, who will gently carry the lambs in his bosom." Realizing and knowing that the heart that was pierced on Calvary does still for his loved ones fell. Lima, (Allen County) Ohio Republican-Gazette. - kbz

Mr. and Mrs. John Deere have the sympathy of their many friends in the loss of their little son, Maurice, who passed from this life at 4 o’clock last Thursday evening. We, your friends, think of your empty arms and broken hearts, and sympathize with you in your loss. Remember, Christ said “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” May peace find its way to your hearts and may you feel you have a little link in heaven, drawing you from earth to plant your affections in a world so much better. You, dear Christian friends, have but buried the little one out of your sight and may feel that your pain and labor have been for naught. But not so. If you could but see in the beyond, you would discover a network of shining cords drawing you toward a better land—cords of memory, cords of hope, all centered in the form of little Maurice. God has only called him home. - thanks muches to "S" for this addition to this little fellow
