Word has been received here of the death of Dr. John H. Deere December 22, 1956 at his home in Alhambra, California. Dr. Deere, the son of Joel and Mary Deere grew up on the farm now owned by Glen Whitham. He graduated from Franklin College and the Baptist Theological Seminary of Rochester, NY and served as pastor of Baptist Churches in Indiana; Ohio; Tennessee; Arizona and California. He retired 7 years ago after more than 50 years in the ministry. He married Cora James who lived in the neighborhood of Freedom Church. She survives as does a daughter and granddaughter. His funeral was in Alhambra with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. - kbz
