Mrs. John H. DEERE died in Alhambra, California March 31 at age 88. She was the widow of Dr. John H. Deere and daughter of Peter and Susan JAMES. She was born and raised near Freedom Church. She and Dr. Deere were married Aug 18, 1897 and to this union were born two sons, who died in infancy and a daughter, Betty. Besides the daughter, a granddaughter Marilyn, living in California and a sister, Mrs. Pearl McCaw of Browns Valley and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Deere held pastorate in Indiana, Ohio; Tenn; Arizona and California for 50 years. He died in Alahambra, Dec 24, 1956. - typed by kbz
