Waveland -- Funeral services were conucted Monday at Machledt & Servies Fun. Home for Alonzo C. Deere, 90, who died Saturday October 31, at Culver Hospital where he had been confined for a short time. He had resided at Ben Hur Nursing Home prior to his death. Mr. Deere had operated an insurance and real estate office here for many years. He was a member of Wabash Ave. Presbyterian Church at Crawfordsvilleville and the Waveland Masonic Lodge. He was born Sept. 5, 1880, the son of Charles & Alice Canine Deere. He married Hazel Jarvis at Waveland Dec 26, 1906, who preceded him in death. Mr. Deere was a 1902 graduate of Waveland HS and attended Indiana University. He is survived by one granddaughter, Mrs. Jean Volz of Ft. Wayne and one great grandson, Kirby Volz. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery with Rev LK Wickett officiating during the services. - kbz
