DARLINGTON – Services for Lawrence E. Deck, 61, Rt. 1, Darlington, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Russell and Hitch Funeral Home in Thorntown, with Rev. Henry Stalldorf of Lafayette officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery south of Shannondale. Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Friday. Mr. Deck's body was found in his automobile Wednesday morning. He had died of a heart seizure Tuesday evening, authorities said. Mr. Deck was born May 1, 1907 near Bowers Station in Montgomery County, a son of George W. and Merilda Huber Deck. He was married Dec. 31, 1938 at Whitestown to Geneva Davis, who died May 22, 1964. Surviving are two sons, Edward E. of Rt. 1, Darlington. and John W., a student at Indiana State University; a daughter, Mrs. Janet R. Sherrill of Big Springs, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Rovene McKee of Williamsport and Mrs. Marie Luster of Lafayette, and a granddaughter, Deborah Carol Deck. A brother is deceased. Mr. Deck was a member of St. James Lutheran Church near Darlington, Masonic Lodge at Colfax and the Scottish Rite at Indianapolis. He was a graduate of Bowers High School and farmed in the neighborhood six miles northwest of Thorntown all his adult life. – jlr
