Herman Detchon died yesterday at 5 o'clock a.m. at his home in the Breaks neighborhood.  He suffered a paralytic stroke last Monday morning and never rallied.  The funeral will occur at the residence this afternoon at 1 o'clock.  Interment at New Richmond.   Mr. Detchon was born in Columbiana county, Ohio almost seventy-eight years ago, and in 1852 became a resident of this county.  For twenty years he had resided at the place where he died.  He was twice married, his first wife being Amanda Agnew.  Three children of this union are still living:  Mrs. Throckmorton, of Tippecanoe county, Miss Ella Detchon, of Wilton Junction, Iowa, and Dr. Hugh Detchon, of Victor, Iowa.  His second wife was Mrs. Amanda Groendyke, who, with three children, survives him.  The children are Miss Lydia, Otto, and Max.  Mr. Detchon was a brother of Dr. Elliott of this city, who is now the only one left of a family of seven children.  Herman Detchon was a man highly esteemed in the community where he lived and was a good citizen. - thanks to Kim H

Herman Detchon, brother to Dr. E Detchon of this city, died on his farm on Black Creek on Thursday morning of paralysis after a week’s illness. He was 78 years ol and has been a resident of this county since 1852. He was a man highly esteemed.  He left a wife and family all of grown estate.
