Davis - Mary Ellis Allen

Lebanon Aug 5 -- The demise of Mary T. Davis occurred at the home of her son, John Davis, on Lafayette Avenue at 3:20 a.m. Sunday at the advanced age of 82 years, 11 months 18 days. The contributory cause of her death was a fall eight years ago when she fractured her hip. The immediate cause was dropsy and complications. Mrs. Davis was born in Montgomery County August 16, 1835. She was first married to William Allen, who died in 1865. Her second marriage was in 1867 to Josiah Davis, who expired in 1910. Three children survive: JH Allen of Russellville and Bettie Lane and John Davis of this city. SIx stepchildren are living: Sarah Rice of New Market; Lucy Patton of Browns Valley, Millie Kendall of Dana, Ind; Eva Clark of Camden, Ind and IT and JC Davis of this city. One sister, Nancy Davis of Crawfordsville survives. Deceased became a member of the Baptist Church at Freedom in her girlhood. When she came to Lebanon 15 years ago she entered the First Baptist Church. She had lived in Montgomery and Boone counties all of her life with the exception of two years in Iowa. THe funeral service here will be held at the residence at 8 a.m. TUesday the Rev. RH Kent officiating. Another service will be held at Browns Valley at 11 a.m. the Rev. Alexander Mayhall officiating.
