Waynetown- Henry H. Davis, 80, retired farmer and Waynetown resident for 26 yeaers died Saturdeay afternoon at 5:15 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Comarroe, in New Market. Death was the result of a stroke suffered Friday afternoon. Born April 16, 1870 near New Market, he was the daughter (sic) of Manning and Angeline Smith Davis. He married Elzora Dinsmore, who preceded him in death Dec 12, 1946. Davis had made his home with his daughter since early spring of this year. Surviving are two sons, Carl and Roy Davis, both of Waynetown; three daughter, Mrs. Comaroe (sic) at whose home he died, Mrs. Clarence Calder of Waynetown and Mrs. Clarence W. Switzer of Ladoga; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral service were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock CDT from the Grenard & Servies Funearl Home in Waynetown. Rev. Harvey S. Burns, pastor of the Baptist Church officiated and burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The flower bearers were Marguerite Bell, Joyce Davis, Larry Davis, Linda Davis, Donnie Davis, Agnes Deaton, Eulalia French. The pallbearers were Byron Lewellen, Robert Calder, Francis Switzer, Lester Bell, Frank Deaton and Sidney Davis. The burial was in the Masonic cemetery. – jlr

Waynetown July 2 – Henry H. Davis, 80, retired farmer, died Saturday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Conarroe, New Market after a short illness. He was a resident of this community for 26 years, moving to his daughter’s home a few months ago. His wife, the former Elzora Dinsmore, died in 1946 Surviving besides Mrs. Conarroe are two other daughters, Mrs. Clarence Calder of here and Mrs. Clarence W. Switzer of Ladoga and two sons, Carl and Roy, both of here.
