Ladoga, April 10 Yesterday at one five in the morning occurred the death of Mrs. Eliza J. Davis, wife of William J. Davis at their home 3 and ½ miles south of town. Mrs. Davis was the daughter of Abraham and Mary VanGorder and was born March 27, 1858, five miles southeast of Ladoga. She was married Feb 18, 1874 to William J. Davis and to this union two children were born, one son, who died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Marcella Graves. Mrs. Davis had been a sufferer for 10 years with heart trouble and diabetes but had been no worse recently until she suffered a stroke or paralysis at midnight Saturday and only lived one hour. She had been a very patient sufferer, a Christian woman and a loving wife and mother and will be missed by many relatives and friends. Besides the husband, daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Davis is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William N. Davis of this place and Mrs. Vina Roberts of New Ross. She had been a faithful member of the Methodist Church here and the funeral services will be conducted at the church Tuesday morning at 10 in charge of Rev. GF Wiedman, pastor of the church. Burial in Ladoga Cemetery.
