Lebanon, Nov. 28 -- Charles R. Davis, who was one of the most prominent citizens of this place died here last evening at 5 o'clock from a stroke of paralysis. He was stricken Monday morning at 7 o'clock and never rallied from the shock. Mr. Davis was 66 years, 8 months and 14 days old, having been born March 12, 1851 in Parke Co., Ind. He was marr. Nov 13, 1873 in Hendricks Co to Sarah L. REESE who survives. The children living are: Allie M. Davis, Lebanon; Mrs. Grace Watson of Boone Co; Clayton R, of Indianapolis; OP Davis of Lebanon. There are also four brothers and two sisters living: William, James and John of Ladoga; George W of Missouri; Anna M. Tenner of Iowa and Clara Mount of Ladoga. Mr. Davis served as trustee of Center Twp from 1895 to 1900. He taught school in Boone Co. for 30 years. Mr. Davis also served on the police service in Lebanon for several years. He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Lebanon; the IOOF [Independent Order of Odd Fellows] of Ladoga; the IOORM and the Masons of Lebanon. The funeral will be held at the residence 610 Esplande St, at 10 a.m. Thurs and will be conducted by the Rev. AL Ward. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery The IOOF [Independent Order of Odd Fellows] and IOORM will give their ritualistic service at the home. (thanks to Janeen Davis Proctor)

  Charles R. Davis, one of Lebanon's best known citizens died at 5 p.m. yesterday at his home, 610 Esplanade street.  Paralysis was the cause of his death.  He was stricken at 7:00 o'clock Monday morning and soon lapsed into unconsciousness, from which he never rallied.  Mr. Davis was 66 years, 8 months and 14 days old, having been born March 12, 1851, in Parke county, Ind.  He was married November 13, 1873 in Hendricks county to Sarah L. Rees, who survives.  The children living are Alice M. Davis, Lebanon; Mrs. Grace Watson, of Boone county; Clayton R., of Indianapolis; O.P.M. Davis, of Lebanon.  There are also living thirteen grandsons and three granddaughters.
  There are four brothers and two sisters living: William, James and John of Ladoga; George W. of Missouri: Anna McTenner of Iowa, and Clara Mount, of Ladoga.  Mr. Davis served as trustee of Center township from 1895 to 1900.  He taught school in Boone county for thirty years.  Mr. Davis also served on the police service in Lebanon for several years.
  He was a member of the Central Christian church of Lebanon; the I.O.O.F. , of Ladoga, the I.O.O.R.M. and the Masons, of Lebanon.  The funeral will be held at the residence, 610 Esplanade street, at 10 a.m. Thursday and will be conducted by the Rev.
