George Anna Dark June 16, 1923-Jan. 12, 2004
George Anna Dark, 80, Indianapolis and formerly of Kingman, died 2:35 a.m. Monday in IU Medical Center, Indianapolis. Mrs. Dark was a U.S. postal worker for several years and served in the Navy W.A.V.E.S. during World War II. Her memberships included Kingman Christian Church, Kingman American Legion Post 234, Daughters of the American Revolution, W.A.V.E.S. Commemorative Society and former member of Kingman Millcreek Home Ec. Club. She was a graduate of Short Ridge High School, Indianapolis, and Poly Tech, Billings, Mont. She was born June 16, 1923, at Cates, to Fred Lindley and Gladys Furr Madden. She married Franklin E. Dark on Feb. 22, 1952. He died Aug. 4, 1975. Survivors include two daughters, Deke Holt, Danville, Ind., and Deb Dark, Waveland; and nine grandchildren. A son, Jay, died on April 29, 1988. Three sisters are also deceased. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday in Kingman Christian Church, 12 S. Second St., with the Rev. Larry McMillan officiating. There will be no calling. Hall Funeral Home, Kingman, is in charge of arrangements.
