Dark - Effie Cory - Montgomery InGenWeb Project

Mrs. Effie L. Dark, 91 a former resident of Kingman passed away on Wed Jan 15 at Culver hospital, Crawfordsville. She had been in the hospital two days and in failing health the past few months. For the past six years she had resided in Waveland with a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Bowman. Mrs. Dark was born in Fountan County Oct 1, 1877 the daughter of Hiram and Carolyn Stewart Cory. She was married to William Dark. He preceded her in death Feb 8, 1950. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Heisel of Carwfordsville and Mrs. Mildred Bowman of Waveland; two grandsons, Donald Crowder of Waveland and Eugene Ratcliff of Portage and 7 great grandch. She was preceded in death by two daguhters, two grandsons, four brothers, one half brother,  one sister and two half sisters. Funeral services were Saturday January 18 at 1:30 pm. at the Woodrow Funeral Home with Rev Larry McMIllan officiating. Interment was in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. -- kbz

KINGMAN – Mrs. Effie Dark, 91, former Kingman resident, died Wednesday at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. Mrs. Dark had lived with a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Bowman of Waveland, the past six years. She was born in Fountain County on Oct. 1, 1877, a daughter of Hiram and Carolyn Stewart Cory. She married William Dark in 1899. Mr. Dark died on Feb. 8, 1950. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, two grandsons, four brothers, a half-brother, a sister and two half-sisters. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Bowman are another daughter, Mrs. Mable Helsel of Crawfordsville; two grandsons, Donald Crowder of Waveland and Eugene Ratcliff of Gary, and a great-granddaughter. Funeral arrangements are pending here at Woodrow Funeral Home.
