Alonzo Day, 73 well known Crawfordsville merchant for 25 yearse had operated a used furniture store on north Green Street, Saturday morning succumbed to a complication of diseases at Culver hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday night. he had been in failing health since September and seriouly ill since December when he retired from the furniture business. A native of Boone County, Mr. Day was born Feb 4, 1869 near Advance, the son of Thomas and Sarah Carty Day, pioneer residents. He was married to Martha Wall of Advance in 1890. HIs church affiliation was with Mt. Zion Methodist of near New Ross. Surviving are the widow; two sons, Roy and Harry Day of New Ross, two daughters, Mrs. Robert Sisk of Beverly Hills, Calif and Mrs. Dorothy Ross of Crawfordsville 7 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several and sevearl other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Proffitt & Son's funeral mortuary, with the Rev. CL Airhart of New Market officiating. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery near Jamestown. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home as the body will be kept there preceding the rites. -- typed by kbz
