Mrs. Nellie Ann DAVIS, wife of Robert, life long resident of this county and one of the most highly respected women of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning at 5:20 at her home, 202 W. Pike Street after 5 weeks' illness with complication of diseases. She was born near Shannondale on Feb 18, 1858 but moved to Crawfordsville when quite small where she had since resided. On January 12, 1882, she was united with Robert T. Davis in marriage and to this union 4 children were born, one dying in infancy. She was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. The deceased is survived by her husband, two sons, Dr. Lloyd H. Davis and Everett Davis; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Stump all of this city; and 3 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Frank Austin of NY City. The body will be taken to the Wabash Avenue Church on Tuesday afternoon at 1 where it will lie in state until the hour of the funeral which will take place at 2. The casket will then be closed. Funeral services will be in charge of Rev. MV Oggel and interment in Oak Hill Cemetery. - typed by kbz
Source: Crawfordsville Journal 28 March 1928 Impressive services marked the funeral Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Robert Davis, well-known woman of this city, who expired at her home Sunday morning. The services were held at the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church with Rev. M.V. Oggel assisted by Dr. G.L. Mackintosh in charge. Burial was made in Oak Hill Cemetery. The high esteem in which Mrs. Davis was held by this community was shown by the profusion of flowers that were banked around the casket. The flower bearers for the service were Marie Tinsley; Thelma Rutledge; Myrtle Stump; Ann Rutledge; Mrs. Cassius Flaningam; Mrs. Cluff and Miss Jennie Cade. The pall bearers included: Arthur, William, Albert, Bert and Frank Davis and Paul Stump. Note: Nellie Ann Rutledge
