Darlington, Aug 21 – Comrade Harvey Custer of this place passed away at 6 o’clock this evening. He was 74 years of age at the time of his death. The old veteran has been ill for some time and death had been expected by friends and relatives. Mr. Custer was born near Potato Creek and has lived in the county all his life. He moved to Darlington after the death of his wife, several years ago and has had his daughter, Laura keeping house for him since then. The deceased man was a member of the Indiana Company from this district which fought in the Civil War, and had been an attendant at quite a good many of the reunions of his comrades when able. Besides his daughter,. Laura, he is survived by two sons, Charles and Frank, both of whom live near Potato Creek. The funeral arrangements have not been made, but will be announced at a later date.

Darlington – August 23 – William Harvey Custer, age 75, former township trustee is dead at his home here. He served in the civil war in Co B, 10th volunteer infantry. Two sons and a daughter survive.
