Mr. Dale Evan Curtis, 63, of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully in his home at 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014. He was born Jan. 9, 1951, at Champaign, Ill., to Archie D. and Nina P. (Walker) Curtis. Mr. Curtis retired in 2013 after 35 years with the Westfield Correctional Facility, where he had been the small engine supervisor. He attended Crawfordsville schools; was a U.S. Marine Vietnam Veteran; a member of the Hobart American Legion Post #777; and his hobbies included fishing, camping, working on cars, trucks and all kinds of engines. He is survived by his brother, David (Randi Sue) Curtis, Crawfordsville; and nieces, Pamela Riggle-Stanton, Patty Jo Brissey, Makeyia Spivey, Rachel Burke and Amy Dennison. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Nina Jean Crane and Brenda Sue Curtis. Cremation was selected with a memorial service being held at noon Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Crosspoint Fellowship Church, 1350 Ladoga Road, with Pastor Harvey Lang officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the service time. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine and Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Honor Guard.
