CURRAN, Luther - WWII

Luther Kenneth Curran, 77, Rt 1, died Monday May 23, 1988 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home.  He was a native of Mt. Sterling Ky a son of the late Edward L. and Flossie Payne Curran.  Mr. Curran was a former employee of Kingsport Press and retired postal clerk in Lafayette, Ind.  He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart in 1942 after being wounded during the invasion of North Africa.  

Mr. Curran was a graduate of Ladoga High School, Ladoga Ind and attended DePaul University, Chicago.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, John Sevier Post 2108 and American Legion Post 24.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Madeline Reed Curran, two sons, James Edward Curran, Manassas, Va and Luther Kenneth Curran Jr, Lafayette; one daughter, Nancy Reed Curran Dowell, Kokomo, Ind; four sisters, Virginia Shubert, Edith Beaver and Norma Jean Servies, Crawfordsville, Ind and Caroline Kory, Arlington Heights, Ill and 7 grandchildren. Dillow-Taylor, Jonesborough.
