Mary Pinkston was the daughter of Donohoe and Rachel Pinkston and was born in Sullivan County, Indiana Nov 22, 1843. After an illness of four years she passed peacefully away at her home in Waveland June 1st at the age of almost 80 years. Mary was the youngest of a family of 7 girls, all of whom are now gone. Her girlhood days were spent in the locality of her birth. There she came to the knowledge of Jesus as her Savior. There started the Christian life that was to have such a quickening influence wherever she was known in later years. At 12 years of age, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she has been a very faithful and efficient member for almost 3/4 of a century. In her moving from one locality to another she was always careful that her church membership was transferred at once to the church at her new home. Her religious life was to her the most important part of her life. She was married Feb 12, 1863 to Seth E. Cuppy. To them God gave two children, Edward A. Cuppy who died about six years ago and Minnie, now the wife of Mr. Bert Kritz of Waveland. This obituary would be incomplete if it did not recount her loyal devotion to her church and her Master. Only when her illness became such that it was impossible for her to be in the services of the Church did she give up her attendance at Divine worship. Her life was a beautiful picture of discipleship. Those who came into her home during her illness were impressed with her patience. All the suffering and confinement was borne with Christian fortitude. Not once did she complain of her lot. Always appreciative of what was done for her she lived life as it was given to her and with faith in her Redeemer has closed her eyes in this world to waken in that land that is "fairer than day." May God bless the memory of this good woman- typed by kbz
