Nelson Cunningham died at the home of his brother Cyrus on Adams street Tuesday morning, February 21, 1900, aged 66 years. Mr. Cunningham was well and favorably known over the county, he having lived here most of his life, for the past few years he has made his home here most of the time, known and respected by all. Some four weeks ago he was stricken with typhoid fever, and upon going to bed, told his friends that this was his last sickness. Death had no terrors for him. He had in his own quiet way made his peace with God. He had been a Mason for many years, and loved and honored its teachings He was a quiet unassuming man and by his death our town loses a good citizen and Darlington lodge No. 186, F.A.M., a worthy brother, the family a kind and affectionate brother. Gilbert and Perry two of his brothers, residing in Illinois. G. W. Welty and wife, she being a niece, of Wingate, and Judge Jere West and wife, of Crawfordsville. attended the funeral, which was held in the Presbyterian church Wednesday and conducted by the pastor, Rev. Nelson Cunningham, aged sixty-six years, died at 12 o'clock Monday night at his home in Darlington, He was taken sick some time ago with typhoid fever and hopes of his recovery were abandoned on Monday. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon at half past one o'clock at the Darlington Presbyterian church The interment was at the Odd Fellows' cemetery there. Mr. Cunningham has lived in this county all his life and was a well known man. He was never married and his property will go to his relatives. He was one of the defendants in the locally celebrated case of Hutton vs. Cunningham. - thanks to Kim H
