Wingate - Hubert Cunningham, 51, suffered a fatal heart attack at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at his home about one mile south of here. Mr. Cunningham was preparing to go to work at R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. at Crawfordsville when he was fatally stricken. He had been employed by the firm 27 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, Wingate F&AM 633, American Legion and OES, all of Wingate, and 40 & 8 at Crawfordsville. He was a past commander of the local Legion Post. Mr. Cunningham was educated in Crawfordsville schools and during World War II served in the U.S. Navy. Born Feb. 1, 1912 at Crawfordsville, he was a son of Howard (Babe) and Jennie Earl Cunningham. He was twice married. He first was married June 3, 1934 to Martha Lough. On April 26, 1945 he was married to Ruth Priebe. Survivors include his wife; his father, who resides at Crawfordsville; four sons, Marshall of Waynetown and Hubert J., Patrick N. and Ronald E., all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Miles of Rt. 1, New Richmond and Miss Shelia Kay Cunningham at home; a brother Robert V. of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Miss Janiece Cunningham of Crawfordsville; a grandson, J. Scott Miles of New Richmond; a granddaughter, Miss Jill Miles of New Richmond; a niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ here at 2 p.m. Sunday. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. The body was taken to Servies' Funeral Home at Waynetown where friends may pay their respects after 7 p.m. Friday until noon Sunday. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The American Legion will conduct graveside rites.

Wingate - Funeral services for Hubert Cunningham whose death occurred unexpectedly Thursday afternoon were held in Pleasant Hill Christian Church Sunday afternoon. Rev. Carl Nisbet of Marianna, Fla., a former pastor, officiated and was assisted by the present pastor, Rev. Edward Byrd. Mrs. Earl Smith Jr. was organist and included a special number, "In God's tomorrow," with the favorite hymns. The pallbearers were Clarence Rhodes and Legion members, Homer Gross, James Slauter, Don Gross, David Ritchie, Robert Gross, Ernest Stockdale and Harold Rice. Carrying the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Burton Robinson, Mr and Mrs. Cletis Blackford, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Irvin, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Gross, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bane, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Smith, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bianconi, Mrs. C. H. McCorkle, Mrs. Hubert Irvin, Patsy and Becky Robinson, Sherry Irvin, Mrs. Ernest Stockdale, Mrs. Robert Gross, Mrs. Homer Gross, Mrs. Don Gross, Mrs. Grace Blackford, Mrs. Wiley Robbins, Mrs. Alton Haas Jr., Mrs. John Greenburg, Donna Smith and Mrs. Mark Pickel. Wingate Post 174 of American Legion was in charge of the military rites at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The color bearers were Dr. R. W. Wann and Lawrence Hays, the color guard, O. P. Frame and Darrell Allen, chaplain was O. K. Buckles. The firing squad was Ronald Meharry, Don Cope, Clifford Coon, Estel Cheek, Richard Cheek, Wiley Robbins, Virgil Dazey and Kenneth Wilson. Taps and echo were played by Sam Wann and Robert Coon.

Death was caused by a heart condition. The services were held at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Wingate with the Servies Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Cunningham was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Crawfordsville a son of Howard (Babe) and Jennie Earl Cunningham. He was married June , 1934, to Martha Lough. He was married April 26, 1945, to Ruth Priebe, who survives. Mr. Cunningham was a member of the Wingate Christian Church, Wingate Masonic Lodge 623 and the Wingate American Legion Post. He had been employed for 27 years at the R. R. Donnelly & Sons Co., at Crawfordsville. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Miles of New Richmond and Miss Sheila Kay Cunningham at home; four sons, Marshall of Waynetown, and Hubert Jr., Patrick Neal and Ronald Eugene at home; his father, Howard, of Crawfordsville; a sister, Miss Janice Cunningham of Crawfordsville; a brother, Robert V. of San Jose, Calif., and two grandchildren.
