Cummins - Maurice

LINDEN – Maurice B. Cummins, 57, a resident here since boyhood, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday in Home Hospital at Lafayette, where he had been a patient 17 days. He had been ill since last December. He was a machine operator at the Alcoa plant in Lafayette for 25 years. A native of Lebanon, he was a son of Ira B. and Bina L. Cummins and was born Nov. 22, 1909. He was educated in Mellott and Linden schools and married to Edna M. Todd on Sept. 26, 1933 at Watseka, Ill. Surviving are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Stevens of Clarks Hill and Mrs. Jack Kelsey of Lafayette; a son, John, at home; three grandchildren, and a cousin, Mrs. Hazel Turner of Hoopeston, Ill. A brother and a sister preceded Mr. Cummins in death. He was a member of the old Christian Church in Linden. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Helms Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Norman Weaver of Clarks Hill officiating and burial in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
