George Cruea, 94, of 106 S. Oak Street, died at 12:45 p.m. Friday in his home. He had been a farmer and served as assistant Union Twp Assessor many years before retirement. He had lived at Crawfordsville 33 years. Mr. Creua was a member of Liberty Chapel Church south of New Richmond, Modern Woodmen Lodge and had attended Breaks School. He was born Sept 30, 1884 in Boone County, a son of Ellis and Ella Davis Cruea. He was married Feb 7, 1921 to Lydia Fruits, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Kenneth of Indianapolis; a brother, Guy of New Jersey; a sister, Mrs. Opal Lewellen of Waynetown, nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sister are deceased. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown with Rev. Stephen Malone officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kbz

Crawfordsville – Retired farmer George M. Cruea, 94, died at 12:45 p.m. Friday in his residence at 108 S. Oak St. He had been in ill health a short time. A native of Boone County, he was a resident and area farmer many years. Mr. Cruea was married at Alamo in 1921 to Lydia Fruits, who survives. He was assistant Union Township Assessor and member of Woodmen Lodge. Surviving with the widow are a son, Kenneth Cruea of Indianapolis; a brother, Guy Cruea of New Jersey and sister, Mrs. Opal Lewellen of Waynetown.
