Darlington -- Mrs. Martha CROWDER, 42, a resident of Darlington for many years, died Friday morning in Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for 10 days. She was born July 7, 1920 in Spencer and her parents were Frank and Ella Cain Ashley. On Jan 18, 1956 she married Norman Crowder in Michigantown. She was a graduate of Spencer HS and Frankfort Beauty school. She operated beauty shops in Darlington and Jamestown and worked at Allisons in Indianapolis before her marriage. She also worked at A&P Grocery in Crawfordsville. Her husband is an employee of RR Donnelley & Sons, Crawfordsville. Survivors include her husband, her mother, two daughters, Ann and Gwen at home; two brothers, James Ashley of Indianapolis and Earl Ashley of Spencer; a sister,Mrs. Harold Ellett of Bloomington, an uncle, Ross Cain of Darlington, two aunts, Mrs. Carol Bymaster and Mrs. Frank Quisenberry of Crawfordsville and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her father and infant brother. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Bright Funeral Home, Darlington with Rev. Harry Odell of Michigantown and Rev. James R. Dickey of Darlington officiaiting. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday.
