GESSIE – Clara Edna Crist, 84, died Tuesday in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital at Danville, Ill. She lived in the Gessie community since 1931 and was a member of the Gessie United Methodist Church Ladies Aid. Mrs. Crist was born Dec. 26, 1889 in Clay County, the daughter of John David and Susan Phegley Crist. She was married to Derell (Dick) Crist at Terre Haute in 1913. Survivors include two sons, William L. and Robert R. of Perrysville; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Lora) Maly of Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Elna Nelson of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Eva Thompson of Hymera, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington with the Rev. Henry Karg officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
