John Crawford, an old and respected citizen of this county, died at his house seven miles northwest of the city, last Saturday evening, of dropsy of the heart. Mr. Crawford came to this county from Lebanon, Ohio, in 1828, and has since been prominently identified with its history. He settled on the farm where he died, but came to this city in 1835 and engaged in the mercantile business. He was Mr. Ramsey’s predecessor as postmaster of this city, receiving the appointment from President Johnson. About two years ago he returned to his farm in Coal Creek Township, where he has since resided. His wife died only a few weeks ago. They had both lived to a ripe old age, he being 74 and she 68 years of age -s
