Wingate - Mrs. Mayme Tankersley Crane, 87, of Wingate, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at her home. Born April 18, 1884, near Colfax, she was the daughter of Richard and Lilly Goldsberry Tankersley. She was married Oct. 7, 1908, to Frank Cottrell, who died in 1912. She was married Feb. 28, 1922, to Joseph W. Crane, who died in 1925. Mrs. Crane was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Post Auxiliary 174. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 336. She had attended Wingate schools. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clara E. Robbins of Wingate and Mrs. Geneva Cottrell Neal of Greencastle; two grandsons, Wiley C. Robbins in the Army in Germany and Robert C. Neal of San Diego, Calif.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Mark Pickle of Wingate and Mrs. Malcolm Jewell of Lexington, Ky.; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services were 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Walter Bartholomew officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery

Wingate – Mrs. Mayme Tankersley Crane, 87 of Wingate died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in her home. She had been ill several weeks. Mrs. Crane was born near Colfax and had resided most of her life in Wingate. She was first married in 1908 to Frank Cottrell who died in 1912. In 1922 she married Joseph W. Crane and he died in 1925. Mrs. Crane was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 174.  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clara E. Robbins of Wingate and Mrs. Genevieve Neal of Greencastle.
