Linden - Roy Ray Crabtree, 78 of rural Linden died at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Crabtree lived his entire life in Linden, graduating from Linden HS in 1936. He worked in waste water management for Alcoa Aluminum retiring in 1980. He also farmed. He was a charter member of the Linden New Testament Baptist Church.
He was born on APril 19, 1918 to William Harrison and Hattie McDowell Crabtree in Kentucky. He married Gladys Soards on Aug 8, 1938. She preceded im in death Nov 25, 1989. He then married Thelma F. Rice May 26, 1990 at Linden. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Dvid Lee of Linden; three daughters, Rebecca A. Proctor of Rock Island, Tenn; Naomi Jean Lowther of Cedartown GA and Ruth Ellen WHitaker of LaVergne, Tenn; one stepson, Larry Rice of Brownsburg; one stepdaughter, Beth Tague of Brownsburg; one brother, Ervin of Elkhart; one sister, Virginia Daggy of Brazil, Ind and Naples, Fla; 9 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two triplet sisters. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hahn Funeral Home of Linden with Rev. Ovid Need officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m Friday at the funeral home.
